She came to the sanctuary in November of 2019 as a 2 yr old dog. Polly is a female Chi/Shep mix, born to a mother that died giving birth to her. She lived in a barn where there was a lactating mother, thankfully, however, the care she received was minimal and not loving. Polly found a home but was shuffled around and neglected and abused early in her life. Then, Polly found herself pregnant at only 10 months old when she was rescued by a family that was trying to do the right thing. She gave birth to two pups. Polly has had a very sad start to life and is fearful and protective of her family. Sadly, the family had only one working parent and two children on the spectrum and they rent- things were very difficult as one parent was also very sick. Their landlord threatened to evict them if they didn’t re-home two of the dogs- a difficult decision to say the least. No local shelter would help because of her fear and recommend euthanasia at just 2 years old, even with no bite history.

Polly has really opened up at the sanctuary and is quick to warm up to new people.
