A shelter’s main goal is to temporarily house animals and find them permanent homes. A Sanctuary is where dogs that are not adoptable go to live out their lives. We operate as a rescue and a rehabilitation facility, caring for the sick or injured animals. However, we not do this to adopt them back out. It is usually understood that these animals will remain in our care for the rest of their lives. It is a wonderful thing for a sanctuary animal to be adopted, but it is usually not possible due to the time and attention they usually need. Shelters do their best to take in animals and find them new homes as quickly as they can. They exist to connect pets with prospective families and keep them off of the streets and safely sheltered. YES! Many of the dogs prefer to remain outside but everyone has access to a temperature controlled building at all times.

We feed the dogs a dry dog food. We do not have a specific brand and will accept any donated food. Canned dog food is used as a treat and when giving medication.

We give the dogs treats very often. Whenever there is a new volunteer, they are encouraged to give dogs treats a few days a week for a few weeks so the dogs learn to like them and get accustomed to their scent and voice. We rely on donations for treats and you can donate here.
