In the summer of 2004, we purchased 128 acres of land to establish our animal sanctuary. The property gave us the space we needed to provide a better life for our dogs. Initially, we bought two older mobile homes for temporary housing and put up fencing to create play yards for the dogs. The mobile homes were heated in the winter and cooled in the summer, providing a comfortable environment for the animals.

By 2005, with the help of Barbara and William Schoolman, whose business knowledge and extensive contacts helped make our vision a reality, we were able to frame and enclose what would eventually become our main animal building. This move to Boonville, NY, over twenty years ago allowed us to expand and continue our mission of providing a safe, loving, and permanent home for dogs in need.

Since Al’s passing this past July, his niece Linda has joined the Sanctuary as acting president. Linda brings with her many ideas and improvements to help the Sanctuary evolve. With her leadership, we’re focusing on updating several areas of the sanctuary to meet the growing and everyday needs of our animals. These improvements include building more kennels, enhancing the layout of our fences, and adding more runs for the dogs to improve their access and freedom. With these updates, we hope to continue providing a better and brighter future for the dogs in our care.
